Home insurance helps with various risks to the home and, depending on the policy, to the belongings inside it. Fire, water damage or theft are not written at the same width in every contract.
Compulsory earthquake insurance, known as DASK, is a separate product. It does not replace a home policy, and one does not fill the gaps in the other by itself.
- The building sum and the contents sum are assessed separately.
- An owner and a tenant may not need the same cover.
- Fixtures and stock at a workplace are not automatically the subject of a home policy.
- Exclusions and deductibles matter as much as the list of covers.
Cover, limits, exclusions and other terms vary by the insurance product selected. Current and binding information appears in the quotation and the policy documents.
