Kasko and compulsory traffic insurance are often treated as the same product. Both concern a vehicle. They protect different sides of an incident.
Compulsory traffic insurance deals with harm to third parties in the situations defined by law. Damage to your own vehicle is not automatically within that cover.
Kasko is voluntary. It deals with damage the insured vehicle may suffer from risks listed in the policy. Collision, theft, fire or certain natural events do not appear on the same list in every contract.
- Having traffic insurance does not replace kasko.
- Extras such as roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle are not standard on every kasko policy.
- A deductible, the choice of workshop and the declared value of the vehicle all affect the cover.
Cover, limits, exclusions and other terms vary by the insurance product selected. Current and binding information appears in the quotation and the policy documents.
